Using Radical, a constrained optimization tool I developed, the table was optimized by modulating ripples across its surface. The ripples contribute to the structural stiffness of the fibre-reinforced concrete table plane. The support structure is then covered by a thin sheet of glass, which provides a functional flat plane.
